Welcome to Iran.
Its landscape is outlined with mountains surrounding a large desert plateau. Iran has wrestled for years to find its feet in economic stability, and is currently under the pressures of a theocratic regime. Your prayers will come at the perfect time for the nation of Iran.
You Praying Over Tehran, Iran
Iran is one of the oldest civilizations in the world dating back 7,000 years. Up until 1935, it was known as Persia. You may remember hearing about Persia in the Bible through Daniel, Queen Esther, Mordecai, and Ezra. Today, you are praying for Iran’s capital city: Tehran. This busy metropolis is home to over 16 million people. It was chosen as a capital only 220 years ago and has been the seat of two revolutions, two coups, two changes of dynasty, the coronation of eight kings (shahs) and the swearing in of six presidents. It is officially an Islamic republic and Iran’s leaders see themselves as leaders of the world’s Shia Muslims.
PRAY
Living God,
You are very familiar with Iran and today, I pray for Tehran. It’s a place of dramatic changes affecting the whole country over the years, and I appeal to you for its peace. The kingdoms of this earth come and go, but your kingdom endures forever. I ask that your Kingdom would come and your will be done on earth as it is in heaven for Tehran. I pray for Iran’s current leaders by name: Ayatollah Ali Khamenei as the supreme leader, and the President, Masoud Pezeshkian. Give them wisdom from heaven, the fear of the Lord, and advisors that would influence them towards life and prosperity.
In this hour, I pray for a release of signs and wonders, showing Iran’s leaders who the King of all the earth is. I ask for divine encounters with Jesus so that they will know your salvation and put their trust in you. May righteous decisions flow from these encounters that will honor all people, regardless of religion, male or female, or nationality.
I pray that you would raise up leaders like Daniel and Esther during this season on earth; that it will stand as a reminder that with you, all things are possible. We pray that Tehran will be a place for joy in your presence. In Jesus’ mighty name,
